What happens when a still life stops sitting on a table and starts living in a world?
That is the question this class answers.
Stillscapes combines still life and landscape into one composition. Objects and environment exist together on the surface, not as separate ideas, but as one. You are not painting a vase in front of a backdrop. You are designing a whole world where the two blend into each other.
It is one of Suzanne's favorite things to paint. And once you try it, you will understand why.
What you will learn:
You will simplify both objects and landscape into shapes that work together. You will learn how to create balance between them, and how to use color to unify everything so the whole painting feels connected. You will make decisions you might not normally make, adjusting, responding, letting the composition show you where to go.
The goal is not realism. The goal is staying open long enough to see what the painting wants to become.
